Grammy-winning French alt-rock band Phoenix will perform at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Sunday, September 19th.   New York’s electro-pop duo Holy Ghost! will support.

Phoenix released their eagerly-anticipated new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Loyoute/Glassnote) to widespread acclaim in May 2009. The album was awarded the Best Alternative Music Album Grammy at the 52nd Grammy Awards.  Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine both declared Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix the 3rd best album of 2009.

The four men of Phoenix, Laurent Brancowitz (guitar) and his bandmates Thomas Mars (vocals), Christian Mazzalai (guitar) and Deck D'Arcy (keyboards/bass), are a close-knit group of childhood friends from Versailles and have deep roots in the modern French music scene. The band released their debut, United in 2000 featuring the two singles "If I Ever Feel Better" and "Too Young.” Their second disc was the critically acclaimed Alphabetical in 2004 and was followed up with 2006's It's Never Been Like That, a much rawer collection of rock ‘n’ roll gems.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is an album that exudes whimsical breeziness, engaging the listener with a seamless blend of synthetics and organics, danceable rhythms, infectious choruses and pop sensibilities that have won them legions of fans worldwide. Praise for Phoenix also comes with their live reviews. New York magazine proclaimed in the headline of a recent live review of the band, “Phoenix Dazzles, Claims ‘It’-Band Status in Front of Thousands at Terminal 5” while NY Press declared, “After finally seeing the band live, after all these years, I have no problem declaring that Phoenix is the best pop band currently making rock music.”

Holy Ghost! formed based on a deep appreciation of analog synthesizers, Larry Levan era-disco, and the cheap thrills of infectious, hook-laden pop. Their first original song, "Hold On,” a mix of Italo beats and pop vocals sans irony, spread like wildfire through clubs worldwide setting the precedent the two have come to be known for: getting asses on the dance floor!  2010 marks the first year fans will see Holy Ghost! live, performing with a full live band.
