GREEK THEATRE NAMED “BEST SMALL OUTDOOR VENUE” FOR THE 16TH TIME UNDER NEDERLANDER CONCERTS MANAGEMENT

RENA WASSERMAN NAMED “FACILITY EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR” FOR 4TH TIME

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 16, 2016) – Under Nederlander Concerts management, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, was once again named North America’s “Best Small Outdoor Venue of the Year” and its General Manager, Rena Wasserman was named “Facility Executive of the Year,” for 2015 by Pollstar Magazine.

With Nederlander’s leadership, the Greek Theatre has won this prestigious award 16 times overall, with 12 consecutive wins.  Rena Wasserman has won “Facility Executive of the Year” four times and been nominated for the past seven years.

“Congratulations to Rena and our Nederlander Family for this well-deserved honor,” said Alex Hodges, CEO of Nederlander Concerts.  “We are proud of this honor and grateful that the industry recognized us once again.  The Nederlander team works especially hard to ensure quality service for the artists, their fans, the venue and the neighboring community – and this effort produces success.”

In 2015, Nederlander produced and promoted over 60 ticketed events at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, plus several community events.  Nederlander brought a variety of marquee artists to the venue such as Wilco, Damien Rice, Alabama Shakes, Twenty One Pilots, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Of Monsters and Men, Gloria Trevi and Jim Gaffigan, among others.  Nederlander created memorable music moments at the venue such as Beach Boys co-founder, Brian Wilson’s birthday celebration, Social Distortion’s 25th anniversary of their “self-titled” album, Garbage’s 20th Anniversary of their debut album, plus the debut of several emerging artists including KYGO, Marina and the Diamonds, Shawn Mendes, Little Dragon, The War On Drugs and Walk The Moon.

Each year Pollstar invites a cross section of international music business professionals to make the nominations for The Pollstar Concert Industry Awards. The awards honor artists, management, talent buyers, venues, support services and more for their professionalism, achievements and abilities. Winners are determined by votes from the international readership of Pollstar.  This year’s nominees for the Best Small Outdoor Venue award included the Santa Barbara Bowl, another exclusively booked Nederlander venue in 2015, plus Ascend Amphitheater (Nashville, TN), Chastain Park (Atlanta, GA) and the Greek Theatre (Berkeley, CA).
