Regeneration Tour 2013 featuring Erasure’s Andy Bell, Howard Jones, Information Society and Men Without Hats will play The Greek Theatre on Friday, August 30.
ERASURE’S ANDY BELL
When Andy Bell joined Vince Clarke in 1985, they created music magic with the birth of the hit-making synth-pop band Erasure and their first album Wonderland, which garnered the hit single “Oh L’Amour.” Their second album Circus was a bonafide hit that went platinum and stayed on the charts for over a year, thanks to a string of hit singles including, “Sometimes”, “It Doesn’t Have To Be”, “The Circus”, and “Victim Of Love.” 1988′s The Innocents would solidify Erasure’s Icon status by going triple platinum in the UK and platinum in the U.S., generating three Top 20 hits with “Ship of Fools”, “Chains of Love” and “A Little Respect.” In 1992, the duo released a singles compilation, Pop! – The First 20 Hits, which also reached number one and went triple platinum, featuring all the band’s singles released from 1985 to 1992. From 1995 to 2011, the duo released a total of eight albums, including a second greatest hits album. As the world waits to see what comes next for Erasure, Andy is taking some time to tour as a solo artist, but will bring all of the Erasure classics with him to his shows.
After an extraordinarily successful 2012, Howard Jones continues touring into 2013, marking 30 years since the release of his first single ‘New Song.’ Jones, burst upon the contemporary music scene in 1983 with his very English song-writing and pioneering synthesizers. His first two albums Human’s Lib and Dream into Action garnered numerous hits, including “New Song,” “What is Love?,” “Things Can Only Get Better,” “Everlasting Love” and the quintessential “No One is To Blame,” which reached No.1 in the US.
Information Society is a musical collective which has been recording and performing for over twenty years. The group was originally formed in the summer of 1982, but it wasn’t until the release of “Running” in 1986, by New York-based Tommy Boy Records, that Information Society broke onto the national consciousness. After a whirlwind series of live dates throughout the world, supporting the initial release of the first album, the group went on to release the albums Hack and Peace And Love Inc. plus numerous Top 40 hits, notably the #1 smash “What’s on Your Mind (Pure Energy),” as well as “Walking Away,” “Think,” “Repetition,” and “Peace and Love, Inc.” In the early 2000’s, re-releases of both “Running” and “What’s on Your Mind” reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Club chart creating something of a renaissance for the group, who perform both domestically and abroad.
MEN WITHOUT HATS
Men Without Hats have been creating iconic and irresistible pop music for three decades and have soared back with their latest release, Love in the Age of War. Led by charismatic front man, lead singer and songwriter Ivan Dorschuk, MWH has surged back starting with a breakout show at 2011’s SXSW, followed by extensive and well-received touring across North America in 2012. Along with keyboard player Lou Dawson and guitarist James Love, Doroschuk and the Hats have been delivering high energy shows packed with all of the band’s absurdly catchy lyrics, including their 1980′s hit “The Safety Dance” which reached Top 10 in the US, the UK and 25 other countries around the world, plus great tracks from their new release.
