The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton present AVTT/PTTN

Scott and Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton, legendary frontman of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle – unveiled their new self-titled album, out via Thirty Tigers, Ramseur Records and Ipecac Recordings. Alongside the release, the group announced a major 2026 US tour, which will make stops in Nashville, Austin, Boston, Brooklyn, and more — including the band’s festival debut at Big Ears in Knoxville, TN, on March 28, 2026.

This tour will bring AVTT/PTTN to Paso Robles, CA on May 9, 2026, with a performance at Vina Robles Amphitheatre. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 5 at 12PM via Ticketmaster.

Written by the Avetts and Patton, and produced by Patton, Scott, and GRAMMY-winning engineer Dana Nielsen (Metallica, Rihanna), the album represents more than just “one of the most unexpected collaborations of this (or any) year” (Consequence) — it’s a true full-circle moment. “Mike’s part of our DNA, like the fabric of our youth,” says Scott. “Literally, we studied him. He’s a dear friend now, but when we were younger, I was imitating him.” Patton adds, “My peculiar challenge in this was to become a long distant cousin. A brother that was orphaned. Maybe they kept him in the chicken coop or some shit. They brought him out years and years later.”

The album opens with the gentle acoustic guitar of “Dark Night of My Soul,” where Patton’s seasoned croon merges with the Avetts’ voices for a rich three-part harmony. Elsewhere, the scuzzy stomp of the folk classic “The Ox Driver’s Song” and the driving fuzz of “Heaven’s Breath” push the Avetts into new sonic terrain, while showcasing Patton’s trademark dynamic range. Lead single “Eternal Love” flourishes as a meditation on the universal pull of love, capturing both its enduring beauty and the weight it can carry. Each track reflects the unusual way the record was built — songs sketched by Scott, reshaped by Patton, and then reimagined again with Seth — a process that gave the music its distinct character and balance.

The unanticipated trio might not quite remember how they all first came into contact, but call it serendipity that their casual exchange of admiration grew into a genuine creative partnership. As the group traded songs and ideas across coasts, AVTT/PTTN came to fruition, showcasing Scott, Seth, and Mike at their most adventurous. “This is what art is,” Scott reflects. “This is what making is supposed to be: in secret and with no ambition.”
