Leila Forouhar, Iran’s film and music star was born into a family of artists on February 23rd 1959 in Esfahan, Iran.

Her father, Jahangir Forouhar, was from a royal family. He left behind the royal last name (Davamul Saltaneh) , all values of royalty and took steps into a movie career . He played in over 100 movies and was a great actor.

Farangis Farahzadi, Leila's mother, is also a well-known Iranian movie star. As a very young girl , Leila started performing on stage with her parents and the great Iranian theater actor, Arham Sadr, at the Sepahan theater in Esfahan.

In 1964, Leila started her acting career. At age 6, she played in one of the all time block buster movies “soltan e ghalbha “. As a young woman , she appeared in several films the most popular of which were “ham class” and “Mehman “.

Leila started her professional singing career , when she was 14 years old. Her debut song was “shamem”, performed with a band of 40 musicians at Miami club , a popular and prestigious venue for concerts. She proceeded to tour in different cities of Iran. She performed songs written by the most famous songs writers and lyricist including Zoya Zakarian, Shahyar Ghanbari , Iraj Jannatie-Ataie , Farid Zoland, Parviz Maghsadi , Siyavash Ghomayshi , Amir Aram and Mansour Tehrani.

After the Iranian revolution, her career came to a sudden end as acting and singing was forbidden. she signed a compulsory agreement with government to stop performing.

In 1986, Leila left Iran for Europe and came to U.S two years later. She continued her singing career from Los Angeles With her first album “Makhmaleh naz golaei “ . She has since released more than 25 albums.

In the 90's she re-established her career as a popular female vocalist amongst Persian audiences and has has millions of devoted fans in Iran and around the world.

She has performed in over 800 concerts worldwide.

She has had concerts in the most prestigious venues such as Dolby Theater, Universal Amphitheater, Shrine Auditorium, and Arena Oberhausen in Germany. Her last concert was at The Dolby Theater in November 2019.

Leila Forouhar is one of the most talented artists who performs in different languages and dialects. She performs in different styles ranging from pop to classical and traditional.

In 1996, she released her album “Planet of Harmony” in nine languages including English, French, Italian, Armenian, Arabic, Turkish, Greek, Kurdish, Afghani, and Hebrew. It became one of the most popular albums of all time breaking sales records.

In 2000, she starred in a theatrical play written and directed by legendary Iranian actor and director Parviz Sayyad. It was based on her true life story of her escape from Iran after at the end of Iran- Iraq war.

Her sister Fariba Forouhar Co-stared in the popular play. They had over 200 performances worldwide.

In August 2004, Leila Forouhar married the love of her life Esi Nabi, and is living a life full of love with her husband and family.

She releases a new album every year with a messages of Love, Peace, and Kindness to her fans.

In the late 90’s, Leila broke boundaries and was the first Persian singer to perform concerts in Dubai, Tajikistan, and Japan for the first time.

Her popularity goes beyond Iran’s boundaries to other Middle Eastern countries including Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kurdistan, Armenia, and in The United States. The Mayor of Los Angeles presented her with a proclamation recognizing her Carrier of over fifty years in 2002.

Although she has been in exile for over thirty years, Leila has deep roots in Iran and has been an advocate for social issues and charities supporting earthquake and flood victims as well as non-profit organizations.

Her Last album, “From My Heart” was a fusion of mystic and classical music. Some of the song lyrics were by world-famous Iranian poet, Rumi.

Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning actress, Shohreh Aghdashloo collaborated with Leila on this album reciting the English translations of the song with her mystifying voice.

In 2020, Leila continues touring worldwide with her sister and manager of thirty years, Fariba Forouhar who has had a major role in her success. Her only wish is for her homeland to become free of oppression and regain freedom, and human rights and she could perform for her people.
